Bio
David C. Dowd was born in New Jersey in the late 1960s and raised in the Garden State, where he remained through college before a series of moves carried him across the country. He now makes his home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
A lifelong storyteller, David has a gift for drawing readers so completely into his worlds that they forget they're reading at all. Whether writing for young readers or adults, he crafts stories rich in wonder and heart, offering a welcome escape from the weight and routine of everyday life.
He is the author of the Tales of Amrynn epic fantasy series, which includes The Emperor's Road, Tales of Amrynn Book I and Book II (Coming Soon). The saga follows Amrynn, a farmer turned soldier who survives a devastating civil war only to become a refugee in a kingdom overrun by bandits. As a scout for a caravan of desperate souls crossing a broken land, Amrynn and his brother-in-arms, Kai, face enemy soldiers, mystical creatures, and the shifting politics of an empire in turmoil, discovering along the way that knowledge can be more powerful than any sword or bow.
For younger readers, David wrote How to Make a Flying Carpet, a heartwarming tale of three children who must turn a mischievous djinn from foe into friend and transform an ordinary carpet into something truly magical. Now writing as an independent author, he is grateful to every reader who joins him on these adventures.
